Air Robert Gibbs, who recently went on his annual shooting expedition in the Jailburn district, states that he was surprised to note how plentiful were the native birds, including kakas, parrakeets, pigeons, robins, fantails, and native larks. He has been over the ground year after year and had not seen anything like the number. As a naturalist Mr Gibbs was pleased to note the increase.
