NEW BILL INTRODUCED. (From Our Own Correspondent.) W ELLINGTON, September 23. There was introduced in the House of Representatives to-day a Bill to provide for the protection of animals, the regulation of game shooting seasons, and the constitution and powers of Acclimatisation Societies. tile Bill provides that the following birds and reptiles are to be absolutely protected : Birds —Albatross, black browed mollyhawk, Bounty Island molly-hawk, Campbell Island mollyhawk, royal albatross, Snares Island mollyhawk, sooty albatross (toroa), yellow nosed mollyhawk, Australian tree swallow (a voce t), bellbird or mocker (makornako), Auckland Island bell bird, Chatham Island bell bird, bittern (rnatu Iftt hurepo), little bittern (kioriki), canary, bush canary (mohus), white-head canary (popokotea), creeper (South Island) (pipipi toitoi), crow, North Island crow (kokako), South Island crow (kokako), cuckoo (family cuculidac), long-tailed cuckoo (koekoea), shining cuckoo (pipwharauroa), duck, Auckland Island duck, blue or mountain duck (whio), fan tail, black fantail (tiwakawaka), Chatham.
