MISHAPS AT SEA

A SCHOONER WRECKED. SUVA, September 26. Captain Neil Murchiio'.t, master of the schooner Columbia River, entered Suva j Harbour at 3.€ Q yesterday afternoon in ; the ship’s boat. He reported that the schooner was wrecked on Sunday Island, j in the Kermadecs. at 4 o'clock on the i morning of September 8 while bound from j Auckland to Portland, Oregon. The ship | ran ri.ht ashore, and is a total wreck in a safe position. The crew of 13 all got ashore. The captain landed stores and theft ' decided to come to Suva for help. He started on September 11 .a voyage of 750 miles in the ship's boat, with six of the crew. The balance are well provided for. They are living on the ship. All are well The island is full of goats. A telegram from San Pedro states that submarine R 6 sank at her moorings. Two of the crew were drowned. The cause oE the accident is unknown. MANTUA SINKS KETCH. LONDON, October 1. The steamer Mantua collided with the Norwegian ketch Star off St. Catherine’s Point. The ketch sank, but her crew was rescued. The Mantua proceeded undamaged.
