A SECRETARY'S EMBEZZLEMENT.
ACCUSED COMMITTED TO SUPREME COURT. NELSON, September 29 Norman Rule Williams, secretary of the Nelson Education Board, appeared on remand at the Magistrate’s Court, to-day charged with theft of money from the Education Board. I( was shown in evidence that accused handled £99,000 yearly, and that his accountancy was unequal t« tho task. His books wore in a regular muddle. Twenty charges, involving £625, were preferred against accused. Pleas of guilty were entered in each instance, and accused was committed to the Supreme Court, Wellington, for sentence. Tho auditor, in his evidence, stated that accused had given every assistance in his power to clear up the books.
