RUSH TO CLEAR BONDS. WELLINGTON. September 22. In view of tho possible tariff inor: aeon, there was a rush by merchants to-day to clear goods from bond, a record duty for the dominion being paid, amounting to £37,175, mostly fer spirits and tobacco. AUCKLAND, September 22. In view of anticipated increases in Customs, heavy clearances of goods from Auckv land bonds have taken place during the past few days. Tho principal clearances have been in spirits, wines, ly>er, and tobacco. Large quantities of drapery and other mer-chaudi.-e have also been removed from bond.
