FIRES IN THE NORTH.
WAIROA, September 19. The Wairoa Guardian office was totally burnt out at 7.30 this morning. Apparently a gasoline apparatus connected with the linotype machines exploded, and the hro spread rapidly, there being no fire-fighting appliances. The neighbouring building, occupied by A. J. Chicken and G. C Fletcher, escaped owing to its brick walls. The insurances are not available. Tho paper started in 1910. NEW PLYMOUTH, September 19. A clothing factory owned by F. Amooro and occupied by E. Bergman, employing about 30 hands, was gutted by fire at midnight on Saturday. The building was the first. Freemasons’ ball in Taranaki, and was erected in the late sixties. The stock and plant wore totally destroyed. The insurances (£2400) do not nearly cover tho loss.
