Th© Bakers’ Union Conference has resolved that the time lias arrived when compulsory installation of dough machines should bo given effect to when the output exceeds 400 21b loaves daily. A deputation wns appointed to meet the Minister of Labour in Wellington to place before him the questions of daylight baking and an amendment: to the Factories Act to provide for a 44-liouvs’ week. Ii was decided that (lie next conference of federated bakers and pastrycooks will be held at Wellington, the headquarters of the federation to rmnain at Christ church. In the meantime a remit proposing that unions shall cancel their registration under the Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Act wii: negatived.
