'Llie annual meting of the Otago Art Society was held in the Art Gallery Hall on Friday afternoon, Sir Joint Roberts presiding. The chairman, in moving the adoption of the report and balance sheet, expressed regret that the benefit of the legacy of £IOO from the estate of the late Alt' Joachim would not be felt as tho expenditure in printing and stationery and carriage charges on pictures had increased greatly during the past year. During the year tho committee had under consideration the amalgamation of ihe Otago Art Society and the Art Gallery trustees, but this had not yet been effected. This matter would be left in the hands of the incoming committee. Last year the sales of pictures were not as satisfactory as they should have been, and he hoped that there would lie more encouragement next year. The total membership was now 250, but the town was large enough for a larger membership, and lie hoped that the public would realise the work of Hie society and give it mere support.
