BANKRUPT SOLICITOR.
AUCKLAND, September 14. A meeting of ctien's and creditors of Hammond and Ct-acknell, solicitors, was held on September I. Ei,drey persons were present, and Arthur Cracknel], the surviving partner, stated that the Id-rn’s liabilities were £45,000, and their assets between £25,000 and £30,000. This statement was repeated to All- Justice Adams at the Supreme Court to-day Lv David Kay, land agent, when giving evidence in support of bis petition to have Cracknell adjudicated a bankrupt. There was no appearance on behalf of the deb Tor. Kay deposed to a cheque which lie received from the firm having been dishonoured, the issue of a writ, and judgment a few hours before Hammond died. At too creditors’ mooting Cracknel! stated iisat he joined the firm in 1914. Cracknell then stated that the firm was insolvent. His libr.or made an order adjudicating the debtor a bankrupt.
