RETURNED SOLDIERS.
WELLINGTON. S pr-mbcr 15. With reference to 11 1 e complaints made at the Returned Soldiers’ Association’s meeting that returned soldiers were rot rei craving preference of eniploytijont- in the pnhiie service, tile Assistant Public Service Commissioner states that the promise made that preference would be given bad boon adhered to. All that, had been asked was that returned soldiers should have preference, other things being equal, and this undertaking bad been exceeded to the extent of giving returned soldiers preference even when they were not in all respects as suitable as men who had not been to the front.
