Tho Lawrence Borough Council has already secured the £2OOO necessary to redeem the loan of £3OOO falling duo on February 22 of next year (reports the Tuapeka Times). At the previous meeting of the council tho Mayor as chairman of the Finance Commit he. intimated that ha had been offered and accepted £IOOO, and at Monday night’s meeting an application for an allotment of another £IOOO was received and accepted; thus practically completing the transaction, tho balance of £IOOO being met by tho accumulated sinking fund.
