ANX LA L CONVENTION. AUCKLAND, September 13. The fourth annual general meeting and convention of tho Motor Garage Proprietors and Cycle Traders’ Associations of New Zealand was opened this morning. Mr I>e Ci-ozier, of Christchurch (president), was in the chair, and the members present were representative of many districts of the dominion, some coming from as finsouth as Invercargill. During- the course of the convention members will meet in deputation all the local members of Parliament on Wednesday afternoon, and will discuss with them the following points:—Tariff matters, Arterial Roads Bill, universal traffic regulations, registration of cars, and transport" of petrol. The annual report and balance shed showed receipts amounting to £4987, and cash in hand. £389. The working account showed receipts £2307, and the balance sheet showed assets amounting to £1292, and £995 liabilities, including a large reserve for possible defaults, in payments and subscriptions. September 14. At the annual Convention of the Motor Garage Proprietors and Cycle Traders’ Association the following officers were elected : President, Mr H. C. Jones (Auckland); treasurer, Mr J. Bett (Palmerston North) ; auditor, Mr Fuller (Palmerston North); councillors —Messrs F. J. Farrell (Auckland). H. E. Whittaker (South Auckland), P. E. Stanton (Taranaki), D. Baker Gabb (Hawke’s Bay). J. R. Perry (Manawatu), H. S. Hartmon (Wanganui), T Wagg (Wairarapa), S. Winn (Nelson), W. Mathieson (Canterbury). 11. J. Jenkins (North Otago). J. Black (Otago), P. H. Vickery (South land). This afternoon a statement was submitted by the council to members of Parliament concerning tariff matters. Arterial Roads Bill, universal traffic regulations, registration of cars, and the transport of petrol.
