GISBORNE. September 16. r I'edenck Artnur Illinois was charged with Ihe theft, on August 10. of six bo'xos of cigarettes, valued at £10; on July 20 of six boxes of cigarettes, valued at’dßKH and at divers dates between December 15 anu June 30. of 49,000 eigaretTes 1731 b of L’L r T Cn ’ 14 h ” xes of cigars, valued at x,sse. all Ihe property of the Gisborne Sheepfa rmers’ Frozen Meat, Company where accused was employed in tho grocery department. Accused pleaded guilty, and was committed to the Supreme Court, for sentence. \\ hare Hickey, alias Where Matangi, who was charged with assaulting Charles Remnant so as to cause actual bodily harm, pleaded not guilty, and was committed to die Supreme Court for trial. The alleged assault took place at Otoko, in the back country.
