OAMARU MARKETS. (ITeom Ole Own Correspondent.) O AMARU, September 17. The week’s turnover in stock has been one of the poorest recorded for a long time. Neither under the hammer nor by private treaty has anything been done in breeding or store sheep, and the only business in “fats” that has come to light was the sale of a few fat wethers at the Duntroon yards at 19s and 20s. So far as cattle are concerned nothing has been doing outside of dairy stock, of which a lair number have changed hands at the following range of prices:—Cows just at profit, ;£lO to £l2; cows, to calve in October, £8 to £10; aged cows, £4 to £5; t lire e-year-old heifers in high condition and due to calve in October, £8 to £0; two-year-old heifers, October cal vers, £5 to £6. SOUTHLAND MARKETS. (From Our Own Correspondents.) INVERCARGILL, September 17. Stock. —There is practically no change in the stock market since last week, except in store hoggets and breeding ewes, which have advanced slightly. The store wether market has improved slightly for any good sorts, but backward sheep are hard to quit. The reason for the slight advance is owing to the works opening next week, when it is expected the big majority of the wethers will be killed. The store cattle market remains practically the same with the exception of dairv cows, which have eased up considerably. Most of the dairymen have completed their herds, and only cows which appear exceptionally good are meeting with a ready sale. The fat cattle market is the same as during the past fortnight. There is a large quantity of ox beef offering, and the prices ruling at present are from 35s to 38s per 1001 b. The following prices may be quoted: Fat Cattle. —Extra prime bullocks, from £l7 10s to £lB 10s; prime, from £l4 10s to £ls 10s; unfinished, down to £lO 10s; extraprime heifers, from £ll fo £l2; prime, from £0 to £10; unfinished, down to £7; extra prime cows, from £8 fo £10; prime, from £7 to £7 15s; unfinished, down to £5.
