ABYSSINIAN RAIDING PARTIES. LONDON, September 4. Advices from Nairebi state that Abyssinian raiding parties crossed the border in the direction of Kenya. The British evacuated Gaddavanna and Sulemuddo. The military authorities admit the raids, but they are reticent. They staFe that the latest reports from the district are that matters are quiet. News from other sources indicates that the raiders are extending their advance inland, but details are not obtainable. September 5. A reassuring statement from a trustworthy quarter regarding the Abyssinian incursion into Kenya pointed out that such raids are not unusual. No danger to colonists is anticipated, the hundreds of miles of desert separating Abyssinia and the Kenyan European settlements being regarded as an efficient barrier against attack. A Nairobi message states that the milij tary authorities advise that there has been no further Abyssinian raids on Kenya. All is quiet in the districts which wera recently raided.
