AUCKLAND, July 4. Tiie Arbitration Court to-day reserved its decision in the appeal by W. Tighe against his conviction for being a party to an. alleged strike .on the Molcoia at Lyttelton oil July 12, 1920, when, as the outcome of the jockeys’ dispute, the crew refused to sail with Sir George Clifford. Appellant’s counsel contended that it had never been proved that Tighe was a member of the watch involved when the deputation informed the captain that they would not sail if Sir George Clifford were aboard; but it could fce said that there was a threat i.o discontinue work. If the Legislature intended that a threat to strike was to be an offence I if would have expressed its intention in exact j terms. The conviction of 22 others hinges ] on the appeal.
