ITALIAN POLITICS.
ROME, July 5. Signor Bonomi (Minister of War in the Giolitti Cabinet) has formed a Cabinet. He has appointed the Marchese Della Torretta Foreign Minister. The iattei is now Ambassador at Vienna, and was Italy’s war-time Ambassador at Petrograd. Signor Gasparotto becomes Minister of War, and Signor De Nava Minister of Finance. The Cabinet is supported by two Democratic groups.and by the Cmicstitutionalists and the Popular Party. The new Ministers are comparatively unknown and the Cabinet is considered mediocre. Catholics hold three portfolios. Signor Bonomi has a majority of G 5. His task is difficult owing to the Nationalist and Facist opposition for the part Signor Bonomi played in connection with the Rapa.Ho Agreement, and the ejectment of D’Annunzio from Fiume. The Facists and the Socialists have reached an agreement and will cease hostilities. VATICAN AND ITALIAN GOVERNMENT. LONDON, July 7. The Daily Alail states that negotiations are proceeding between tiie Vatican and the Italian Government for the purpose of reconciliation, enabling Italy to appoint a- Minister to the Vatican, thus making it possible for the Pope to end his self-imposed seclusion in the Vatican. Under the plan at present being considered the Pope would recognise the King of Italy as the sovereign of Rome and all the former Papal Dominions except portion of the city which would become absolute Pontifical territory. It is also proposed that 10,000 acres of the Monte Mario District be added to the Papal Dominions creating a separate Papal •State.
