PURCHASE OF FRIESIAN CATTLE.

Mr Adam Wilkinson, of Green Island, and Mr William Robertson, of Willow Brook, Mickllemarch, who attended the Friesian breeders’ consignment sale at North last week, secured two very fine heifers for their respective herds. Both heifers were bred by Mr H. It- Green, of Kairanga, and are sired by his King Laddie, whose four nearest dams average 18,9511 b milk and 736!b fat in 365 days. Mr Wilkinson’s heifer, Fietje Inka Wayne of Oakview was the second prize ■winner at the Stratford show. She is in calf to Woodcrest Pauk Piekrtji, whose descendants are said to hold world records. The price paid was 105 guineas.

Mr Robertson’s choice was Posch de Kol of Oakview, out of the imported cow Lydia Canary De Kol. She was first at the Waikato show in a class of 12, and her miik record is 16,3821 b milk and 5391 b fat. She is in. calf to the Posch bull King Mercena, now herd sire at Oakview. Both his imported sire and dam carry the noted Posch blood which has produced May Echo Sylvia and Burkey Sylvia Posh, the latter having a record of 9831 b fat. No doubt it was thia combination of blood which induced Mr Robertson to pay 96 guineas for this heifer. Both breeders are to he congratulated on their enterprise in bringing heifers -with high milk and fat records into Otago, where so much is required to bring the average production near to the other provinces. These were the two highest-priced heifers at the sale.
