COOK TO CONCERT SINGER
Many stories have been told of the accidental'discovery of talented singers. One of the most remarkable is that of Miss Alice Warwick, a London girl who may be singing at the Albert Hall soon. Losing her*father when she was quite young, she helped to keep the home together by workin,y {>s a cook. While attending to pots and pans in the kitchen she discovered that she had a voice, learnt popular sentimental eon go which she bought with spare coppers, and finally sang in the streets to help an ailing married brother. There she was discovered by a well-known conductor, who was so impressed by the beauty of her voice that he is training her for the concert platform!
