DROUGHT INSURANCE.

FODDER CONSERVATION. SYDNEY, June 24. After a conference, lasting over several weeks, between Government representatives and pastoraiists and other interested industries, a comprehensive scheme for fodder conservation as a means of drought insurance has been prepared for submission to the New South Wales Cabinet. The scheme proposes the establishment of a board with legislative authoritv. Its members will represent pastoral and financial interests, together with a Government nominee. The State is also to be divided into districts under local committees, which will attend to the establishment of central depots, wherever required, for the storage of fodder, which farmers will be encouraged to grow at guaranteed prices. Rural interests and tile Government will jointly finance the scheme, which is estimated to require £5,000,000 to carry on for the first five years, after which it should become self-supporting.
