SHEARERS’ ACCOMMODATION.
DEPUTATION TO MINISTER OF ' LABOUR. WELLINGTON, Juno 24. A deputation front the New Zealand Workers Union interviewed tho Minister of Labour respecting shearers’ accommodation. The deputation stated that the accommodation was 100 per cent, bettor than five years ago. but sti’l many employers ignored the inspector’s instructions. Thev asked that defimto regulition* on the lines of ’ 1 ' "c h *: the ttavia industry sbotdd be
issued for the guidance of inspectors. They also suggested improvements in the lining of the huts, sleeping accommodation, water supply, and drying rooms. The Minister promised to have immediate instructions given to prevent tho use of contaminated water supplies, and undertook also to look thoroughly into the other requests.
