The defendant in the rabbit ease at Owaka on tile 15t-h inst. was granted permission to sit down during the hearing of his case and when giving evidence, lie appeared in court with his head tied with a woollen scurf, his leg bandaged, and he had to use temporary crutches, lie said ho was under the doctor’s care. The magistrate (Mr A. M. Mowleni) told the man ho could sit or lie, but ho had to stand when taking the oath.
