THE FRINCE OF WALES.

LONDON, June 13. At the Agents’-General dinner Mr Hughes (Prime Minister of the commonwealth), responding, said that he appreciated the honour done him by the presence of the Piitico of Wales, which was a great compliment. Ha recalled the Prince’s marvellous crusade through Australia, which would never be forgotten. The Prince had impressed himself indelibly upon all hearts, and his visit had done more than anything else to help Australia to understand what monarchy meant to the Empire. He assured the Prince, on behalf of Australia, that the goodwill had increased since his visit. All age 3 and situations in life regarded him with affection, and held him to his promise to make another visit. June 16. Mr Everard Cotes has published a book entitled “ Down Under With the Prince,” in which he pays a warm-hearted tribute to the loyal reception accorded the Prince by all classes everywhere. Regarding New Zealand, Mr Cotes, who represented Reuters during the Prince’s Australasian tour, says : “It is impossible to travel there and to meet public men without being impressed by the high character, moderation, and conservativeness characterising its politics. There is no country where co-operation for public ends is more general, where political corruption is less common, or where personal rights are more secure.” The Prince of Wales sustained a nasty ■pill while playing polo at Aldershot on June 15, owing to the bridle breaking. lie •ssiimed the game, but limped when walking. It is understood that the Viceroy (T.ord Reading) strongly recommends an autumn visit by the Prince of Wales to India as being likely to assist the political situation.
