HAMPDEN PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH.

JUBILEE CELEBRATIONS

The celebration of the jubilee of the Hampden Presbyterian Church and semijubilee of the ministers were begun on tiie sth. The Rev. James Baird, who was ordained and inducted there 50 years ago, preached and dispensed the communion at the morning service, and also spoke at tho Waiauukarua service in the afternoon. The Rev. R. H. Blair, tho present minister of Hampden, preached in the evening. The congregations were large and attentive. On Tuesday evening the jubilee social was held, and was well attended. The Rev. R H. Blair presided. Apologies ai d congratulations were received from the Revs J. Ryley, W. Nicliol, W. Hannah, A. G Irvine, "M.A., A. Watson, A. gangster, ALA., 8.D., and H. M'Lean, M.A., M.Sc., B.D. ’ Air Cook represented the minister and session of Columba Church, Oamaru. and read a congratulatory motion. The Borough Council was represented by the Mayor, Air \\ . Nioolson. and the clerk (Air A M'William). It was decided to send letters of appreciation and sympathy to Air W. Craig, who was inducted an cider there 57 years ago, and is the only member now living of the original session; and to Air David Walker, a member of the present session. The following is a list of the speakers:— Rev. H. Davis (Anglican), Rev. James Baird, the Revs. J. Davie, S. F. Hunter, ALA.,’ 8.D., and G. Hunt (representing the Presbytery), and P. C. Rennie and R. 11. Blair. Songs were contributed by Alisses Watt and Hay and Messrs M Pherson and Low; recitations by Air Glanville. The accompanists were Alisses Annerson, AAatt, Hay, and G. Robertson. A comprehensive vote’ of thanks was passed, on the motion of Messrs D. J. Ross and Walker. Supper was served at the close.
