AUCKLAND POLICE COURT. AUCKLAND, February 25. At the Police Court to-day two girls, Margaret Metcalf© and Freda Hutchinson, inmates of the Door of Hope, were charged with unlawfully setting fire to the building on February 13. They were remanded' for a week in custody. William Davis -James (storeman) and Walter Strong (carter), for sugar thefts, were sentenced to three months’ and two months’ imprisonment respectively. Walker Bros., bakers, Ellerslie, were fined £2O for selling underweight bread. The four bright planets—Venus, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn —are now all visible in the evening sky, and form very fine objects in the telescope. The Government Astronomer (Dr C. E. Adams) states that Saturn is particularly interesting at present as the rings are visible. This phenomenon occurs periodically—about every 15 years. .
