OTAGO LAND BOARD

The meeting of the Otago Land Board, held on the 23rd, was attended by Messrs R, T. Sadd (chairman;, T. A. Munro. Jas. Smith, C. J. Inder, and Geo. Livingstone. Mr James Smith was reappointed a member of the board, the chairman and members expressing their pleasure at his reappointment. APPLICATIONS FOE LAND. The Abbotsford Land Company applied to purchase the closed road adjoining section 60, block VII, Dunedin and East Taieri district.—Declined. Charles M'Erlane applied for a grazing license over section 28, block VI, Gimmerburn district (Forest Reserve). —Year to year license granted at 40s per annum, subject to determination in terms of section 130 the Land Act, 1908, and to three months notice, subject also to advertising. Richard George Redhead applied to purchase area of five acres, approximately, in block V, Cromwell district.— Held over ponding subdivision of run. E. W. Clunie applied for a grazing license over section 28, block VIII, Maniototo district (Camping Reserve). —Year to year license granted at 20s per annum, subject to determination under section 130 of the Land Act, 1908, and to three months’ notice, also subject to rights of drovers with travelling stock and to advertising. James M'Miilan, lessee of sections 15, 16, block I, Kveburn district, renewed his application for a share in lease of run 573. — Approved, subject to consent of other members of syndicate. The application of Hugh Higgins for section 7s, Melville Park Settlement, 7 acres 2 roods, was approved. The application of Arthur Little for section 4s, Melville Park Settlement, 7 acres 2 roads, was approved. Notice to be given to Mr O’Neill of termination of license. The following applications were approved : Section 20, block VII, Tiger Hill, 65 acres 20poles, John Crozier; section ss, Wairuna Settlement, 421 acres, Gilbert B. Stevenson ; section 6s. Wairuna Settlement, 500 acres, Daniel A. Hickey; sections 9. 10, 11, 15. and 16, block IX. Town of Molyneux, each one acre. Herbert 11. Clarke. LAND TO BE AVAILABLE FOR DISPOSAL. The Land Board was requested to determine the mode of disposal of Education Reserve section 17, block XXI, Town of Herbert.—Resolved to re-offer at auction at upset of 6s per annum, and that the late lessee be allowed to remove the fencing. William dark applied for a license over section 8, block XVI, Dunedin and East Taieri Survey District.—Year to year license granted, subject to determination under section 130 of Land Act, 1908, and to three months’ notice if required for any other reason at £1 per annum. With reference to the disposal of buildings on subdivision of section 3s, Pukenui Settlement, it was resolved that part of large iron building on 5s be allotted to section 2 of 3s. leased by Glenn, and that the cottage now on 5s be allotted to section 1 of 3s. leased by M‘Pbee. CANCELLATION. The grazing license over area between sections 82, 83, and 84, block I, Benger district and the Clutha River to F. W. Weatlierall was cancelled. FREEHOLDS. P. Paskell applied for issue of freehold title section 56 (Jill Table Hill, purchased for cash under part 111, Land Act, 1908, — Approved, subject to satisfactory declaration as to improvements. The application of Alexander Mason to purchase the freehold of section 52. block IX. Glenomaru, 125 acres 1 rood, was approved. THIRDS AND FOURTHS. The Clutha County Council’s proposal for expenditure of “thirds” and “fourths” amounting to £lO5 3s 5d for period ending 30/4/1920. —Approved. Proposals to the amounts stated from Waihemn (£ll ,4s 8d), Southland (£4 8s 4d), Tuapeka (£llO 15s 8d), Maniototo (£7l 9s 6d) were approved, subject to payment being withheld until proposals passed by inspector. MISCELLANEOUS. The Public Works Department applied for the resumption of area of seven acres at junction of Beaumont and Clutha Rivers, held by W. Phillips under year to year license at £2 per annum, tl*e land being

now required for railway purposes.—Resolved that license cease and be determined in terms ol section 130, Land Act, 1908. John Samuel Webb, section 48, block 11, St. Bathans Survey District, applied for exemption from residence. —Granted during pleasure of the board. The application of J. S. Bennett, who holds a miscellaneous license over sections 22, 23 (XI), Naseby, Plantation Reserve, for permission to grub broom and clear off dead trees and plough and cultivate the cleared land was approved. Notification from the Forestry Department that it is proposed to resume run 306 (V), Naseby (P. Dowling), under section 144 of the Land Act, 1908, was received. APPLICATIONS TO TRANSFER. Morgan; section 57a, Steward Settlement, 60 acres, Walter B Belcher and Katherine A. Belcher to Catherine Luxon; section 81, block 11, Ard gowan estate, 25a 2r 15p, Thos. W. M‘Kenzie to Wm. Brown; section 2 of 20a, Elderslie Settlement, 215 a lr 18p, Jas. M. Seales to John Aitchison ; sections 33 and 34. block I» Glen*rchy, 102 a Or 32p, Public Trustee to Walter A. Ross; part mining reserve in block V, Table Hill, 558 acres, V 7 m. G. M‘Gregor to Thos. Jas. Samuel; section 18, block X, town of Clyde. 1 rood, John Wm. Thos. Hawley to John Penny Graham ; section 45, etc., block IV, Akatore, 222 a 3r 30p, Jessie Grant to Geo. Donald G. Sanderson; and section 2 of 5, block VI, Hillend, 40 acres, Philippa Mary Dorward and David Bryce, executors of the will of T. E. W. Dorward (deceased), to Edward Hannon Tate end Frederick Thornburg Tate. In reference to sections 2, 11, 13, parts 12. 14, 15, block V, Waipori, 2868 acres, there was an application to have the names of Wm. Hanry Russgll, Joseph Nicholson, and Cecil Blackmqre, placed on the license to fill the vacancies caused through Thos. Bolton, Richard Hy. Blackmore, and Robt. Gore having left the district. The suggested action was approved by Waipori Commonage Committee at annual meeting on February 3.—Approved. The application to transfer part riter bed in block 1. Kurov. 2 v-»s, from John Cochrane to Hector Robt. Stew-art was approved at same rental. The aoplication to transfer run 1710 Hummockside. 4150 acres, from trustees estate of Allan S. Orbell (deceased) to John H. Dines was approved, subject to satisfactory report from ranger as to stock advance.
