INQUEST, T'le adjourned inquest regarding the death of the child John Joseph M'Grath, who fell into a bath of hot water at the St. Vincent de Paul Orphanage,concluded by the Coroner (Mr W on Saturday nrornSorgeant Doulton, for the police, stated that during the adjournment had been made regarding the parentage of the chiich The child was illegitimate, and was left by a man named M'Grath (presumably [lie father) at the Karitano Hospital 14 months previously. There was no trace of M'Grath. The mother was 19 years of age. Nothing had been paid towards the upkeep of the child. The Coroner said that the child had boon well looked after, lie returned a verdict that lie deceased died on February 7, at the Dunedin Hospital, the cause of death being shock and oedema of the lungs, following inruries received through having been
