The Autumn Handicap, one of the few events run over a distance of 11 furlongs in the Dominion, has gone up to ICOOsovs. The Pacific Handicap, a twc-year-old race, six furlongs, on the second day, is also worth lOOOsovs. The maximum is 9.7, and it is hoped that this will bring Mermin and Rational together Esperance, War Baby, Insurrection, and Royal Exchange, who are engaged at Wanganui, are under orders for Nelson trhan they have finished at the West Coast ineeting. : The injuries Sweet Memory met with at the Dunedin meeting could not have been Anything serious, as her name appears among the entries for the Marlborough Ineeting. The fact that there will be a couple of trotting events at the Akaroa meeting, to be held at Riccarton next month, reminds your correspondent that in the old days at the Forbury a trotting event, three miles in saddle, was held each day of the winter ineeting. Well-known performers of the time were Cock Robin (owned and ridden by R. <T. Mason) and Daisy (owned by Patsy Butler). There is a report in circulation that T. V. . Quinlivan is coming to Treutham to aln tor Mr E. Riddiford, but your correspondent has not been able to get confirmation of it. J.
