Last year 47 convictions for selling shortweight bread were recorded in the dominion, and the fines totalled £2BO 18s sd. 'l'll*' amount 1 damages for alleged libel to be claimed by -NI r P. Morn, clerk of the Waitomo County Council, against Mr J. K. llarnill, proprietor of the Tying Countrv Chronicle, in connection with the article dealing with Mr Mora’s purchase of the county farm, is stated to he £4ooo there being two counts of £2OOO each.
