MAIN TRUNK EXPRESS.
COLLISION NARROWLY AVERTED. WELLINGTON, February 18. Just as the south bound Main Trunk express had drawn into the platform at Ilunterville yesterday morning the north bound Express passed by at high speed on the rails the other train had iuat left. It is stated that the up express had missed the tablet •t Hunterville, having passed through with the signal against it. The down train was
j considerably delayed, as the tablet had to j be brought back to Mangaonoho. j Mr MacDonald, assistant railways j manager, stated that there was some misi understanding on the part of the driver of I the up express. Three officers of the department were going up to inquire.
