- —A congregation in the Black Forest has appointed a woman curate, whose duties are to assist the pastor in church administration and parish work. A French inventor has overcome the dangers caused by fogs at sea, and in future ships will be able to find their way to leading Channel porta even though the lights be obscured by fogs. Cables will be laid in channels through which alternating currents will give off musical sounds. Ships will be provided with instruments that pick up the sounds, and will thus be able to find their way like a blind man tapping the edge of the kerb.
