Norham Castle, near Berwick-on-Tweed, where the opening: scenes of Scott’s “Marniion” are laid, was sold at an auction recently for £1325 to Mr Charles Romanes, F.S.A.. Edinburgh. The castle was repeal ediy taken and retaken in the war between Scotland and England, and was rebuilt in 1164. At the same sale Longridge Tower, which cost £130,000 to build, was bought for £6OOO.
