THE NEW YEAR, 1921.
By Bessie L>. Heignton. A little volume here we have, Its covers gold :ad blue; Said much we wonder, you and I, What is its contents too! Some of the last year’s leaves were red With life blood dropt in tears; And some were black with blasted hope. And some were grey with fears. We may not open wide the book, Which here to-day we hold; We can but wonder what may lie Between its boards of gold.
