SUPREME COURT
WELLINGTON, November 8. Two persons awaiting trial at the present session of the Supreme Court stowed away on the Wiltshire, which left Wellington on Tuesday for London via Panama. They are Myrtle May Reid and Sydney Svenson, charged with bigamy, the latter also charged with false pretences. They were on bail in £l5O each. A wireless from the captain was the first intimation that the fugitives had broken bail and had been discovered on board. The captain was instructed to tranfer them, if opportunity offers, to a vessel bound for New Zealand. William Arthur Webb, driver of a taxi, was convicted of manslaughter by knocking down and killing Alfred Maile on September 29. The jury recommended leniency. Webb was sentenced to three months' imprisonment.
