Enquirer, asks: If a man bought land for , £2OOO and! sold it for £2500, is he liable to pay income tax on the £500? Answer.— No, if the transaction- was an isolated one. . If the man made a business of buying and selling lands, he would be liable for income tax on the profits made by him. ~•■; Constant Header asks: Will the Government allow the interest on the Government debentures to lie and -add compound interest thereon?-—Answer.—No. Miner.—The settlers must respect the exist- , ing water rights held in-the waters of the creek. Inquirer.—(a) The : purchaser will require to pay the costs of completing his title to. the property purchased by him.
