October 16. The grain . and produce market remains cMI and depressed, and quotations show no change on those* recorded at tho middle of the • week. The Commonwealth potato expert has finished his investigations, hut the potato market is dead,, and there appears io ho no prospects of any trade with the Commonwealth even if the embargo is lifted. The market for oats is still very depressed, at least one sale being recorded during the past few days at 4s a bushel, f.0.b., s.i., Chaff shows an easing tendency, selling at 3>5 10s to £5 15s a ton at country stations. Apart from an inquiry for white clover, the market for seeds is lifeless. The following are the prices paid to farmers at country stations, free of commission, sacks extra, except where otherwise stated:— Milling prices, Tuscan 7s 6d f.0.b.; Hunters, 7s 9d; Pearl, Bs. Oats (nominaJ).—3s 3d to 3s 6d bushel. Barley (nominal).—Ss to 9s a bushel. Cape Barley.—7s. Oatmeal.—2slb bags, £3B per ton; 7lb bags #B7 per ton. Oataheaf Chaff.— £s 10s to £5 15s. Red- Clover.—ls 6d to Is 10& White Clover.—2s to 2s Id. Flour. —According to Government prices, £l6 10s per ton, f.0.b., Lyttelton, Timaru, and Oamaru. Bran. —According to Government prices, £1 15a per ton, f.0.b., main ports; pollard, £9 15«. Local prices: Bran, £5 8s; pollard, JEIO sa. Potatoes.—Table Whites, 25s to 30s; Red Dakotas, 40s. Linseed. — £21 to £22 a ton.
