POSTAGE ON MAGAZINES.

A REDUCTION CONCEDED. WELLINGTON, September 10. Representatives of booksellers and stationers waited on the Postmaster-General to-day in regard to the increased charges for posting magazines. They pointed out that the charges for letters had been doubled compared with pre-war rates, but the charge for magazines had been quadrupled. They suggested a revised scale. The Minister replied that when he heard there was a complaint about the new rates he had the matter gone into by the Secretary to the Post Office, with the result that what the deputation had contended had been found to be correct. A new scale had been submitted, and he would approve of it. Great minds must have thought alike, for the scale was the same as that proposed by the deputation. The new scale would charge 2d for eight ounces and Id for evory additional eight ounces.
