Considerable discussion was roused by a letter from Miss Henderson, dominion corresponding secretary, in reference to indentured labour. It was pointed out that the member for Dunedin North, who had voted against indentured labour for Western Samoa, was apparently the only one of the local M.p.'s who had recorded a vote on the question.—ij was re . solved that a copy of the following'' resolution be sent to the Prime Minister and Dunedin members of Parliament: —"That this . union ' strongly "protests against the system of indentured labour existing in Samoa, and urges Parliament to abolish it there without further delay."

After animated discussion the following resolution was carried unanimously, copies to be sent to the Prime Minister and Dunedin members of Parliament: —" That this union notes with marked disapproval that one of the largest jammaking factories in Sfew Zealand has had to close down temporarily owing to shortage of sugar, while the breweries of the dominion maintain their average outpnt of beer, thereby using a large quantity of sugar."
