SCIENTIFIC INVENTION TO ABOLISH SEA-SICKNESS.
Many inventors have attempted to design non-rolling ships, but so far without success, and sea-sickness remains a terror even on the palatial modern liner. Recently, however, it has been announced that a new gyroscope has been made which will steady a large ship so effectively that it will roll through no more than two degrees, which is no more than a car inclines Avhen rounding a sharp bend. It is stated that vessels of 10,000 tons displacement have been fitted with this gyroscope, which, besides steadying the ship, enables it to maintain a higher rate of speed. Another advantage is that the ship is kept much drier in rough weather.
