Miss Helver pointed out that some thousands of men and women would be coming her© from overseas in a short tisie, and not all of them would be sympathetic to the temperance cause. She strongly urged that they should get to work at once to have this scientific teaching made compulsory in the schools. What was wanted was that it should, be made a compulsory subject for examination. The idea was adopted. Mrs Nimmo said that in goods and money an amount of £3500 had been raised for the provision of comforts for sailors by the efforts of the W.C.T.U., and several letters of appreciation from sailors and.. organisations working for the benefit of sailors were read.
