We are indebted to the Glasgow Herald for the following details: There was a record entry of 33 players for the Scottish Draughts Championship tins year, and of that total no fewer than 14 were new aspirants to the title. A euggestrve feature is the fact that for the first time in the .history of the contest the Glasgow competitors were in the minority London was represented by F Kaiser the Metropolitanchampion; H. J. Fricker, a young and brilliant player, who was runner-up jn the English Championship -m 1913; and D. G M'Kelvie, an old-time Glasgow expeit. Other notable entrants were A. B. boot*, Govan; J. L. The' contest took place in the hall, 9 Watson street, and the opening ceremony performed by Bailie Smith, Coatbridge, who intimated that correspondence had been entered into in connection with a ternational match between Scottish and English Draughts Associations and America it gad been suggested that the match should take place at Easter, 1921, and the proposal & had received the whole-hearted support of the Scottish Association. It was many years since the last international-match was held. At least £6OO would be required to cover the expenses of the match, and that sum would have to be secured by the draughts enthusiasts. Referring to the match which they had hoped .to arrange between- Mr Banks, America, and Mr Stewart or Mr Ferrie, he said that it unfortunately had not materialised. Tha draw for the championship was announced as follows:—First - Round—E. M'Clurkin, Troon v. G. M'Bride, Cambuslang. Second Bound—J. Robertson, Glasgow, v. W. H.
