Fingerprints left on a steel trunk were used in evidence on the 3rd against Alfred Aben, a Russian, who was charged in the Magistrate's Court with breaking, entering, ancf theft. The prints on the trunk were compared with an impression made of Aben after his arrest, and, according to_ the police, an naimistakable resemblance, in no Less than 14 characteristic points, was established. The magistrate, Mr Riddell, considered the evidence called by Chief Detective Ward sufficient to warrant his committing Aben for trial.
