ASHBURTON, March 5. Before Mr M'Kean, S M., to-day Gideon Scott, charged with keeping liquor for sale without a license, was convicted and fined £SO, with the alternative of three months' imprisonment. On a further charge of sell-. ing_ liquor he was fined £25, with the alternative of two months' imprisonment. Siott was a second offender. A plant of 46„bottlea, of whisky was found hidden behind 'a sliding board in the wall. .'• John Laffey, charged with purchasing liquor from Scott, was fined £5.
