. OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT. (Fhom Oub Own Correspondent.) WELLINGTON, March 4. The number of valid votes recorded at the poll throughout New Zealand taken in accordance with Part 2 of the LicensingAmendment Act, 1918, was 543,762, and the total number of valid votes recorded throughout New Zealand in respect of the proposals submitted under section 56 of the Licensing Amendment Act, 1918, was: For National Continuance •■• ... 241,251 For State Purchase and Control ... 32,261 For National Prohibition 270,250 It is now officially announced that the result of the poll is that Continuance is deemed to have been carried.
