LICENSING PROSECUTIONS.
NEW PLYMOUTH, March 4. At the Magistrate's Court to-day William G. Emeny, licensee of the Koyal Hotel, was charged with having unlawfully exposed liquor for sale during a time when his premises 'were required to be closed. Ebenezer■■WoTdridge. Frederick Fox, and William tfitzgerald were charged with having been illegally oh tihe promises after hours. Pleas pi hot guilty were entered; It was contended that there was no drinking, and
that the accused were guests of the licensee, and were merely conversing. Mr T. A. B. Bailey, S.M., said it appeared to him that if a licensee took men into the bar, and had it lighted up, he was exposing liquor. Decision wag reserved, Pour men—John F. Eva, John H. Koin, Allan Campbell. and Jaa. A. Ha warden — did not appear to answer a cha.rge of having been unlawfully on licensed premises—the Breakwater Hotejr—on Sunday, February 8. A fine of £2 and oosts (7a) was inflicted in each base.
