What is a kilowatt? is a question that often puzzles those well versed in electrical terms. At a recent meeting at Hamilton a kilowatt was defined by the engineer as being equal to one-norse power and a-third.-The opinion was also expressed at this meeting that benzine would rise to be £4per tin, an additional reason for the use of electrical power by farmers and others. At the last meeting- of the Southland Education Board, a teacher wrote from Dimcdin requesting leave of absence owing to influenza. This was granted pay f the board being of the opinion that the teacher had no right to visit an infected area when schools were closed as a precauionary measure.
