UREWERA LANDS.
ARRANGING FOR SETTLEMENT. _ WELLINGTON, February 26. The IvJmister of Lands, who visited the Urowera-country last week, states that he is now formulating a proposal with a view to the- wirly settlement of the 300,000 acres iihvadv purchased by the Government.
He proposes that the work of partitioning the Native interests and the Government interests shall be taken in hand as soon as possible. He will have surveys made of the main outlets, and anticipates that one road will follow the W'hakatane River Valley, an that another will come out near 'Waimana. The Minister states, further, that he intends to arrange that the Urewera lands benefited by the opening up of the country shall bear a share of the cost.
