An English engineer has succeeded m extracting commercial alcohol and its derivatives from coke. It is claimed that if the process, which requires the tib© ;of gas, is applied to all the coal carbonised in Great Britain, an estimated yield of 50,000,000 gallons of motor spirits will be obtained annually, revolutionising the supply and cost of liquid fuel.
