RIFLE SHOOTING.
The final day (ladies' day) of the Kaitangata Rifle Club's shooting was associated on the 21st ult. with ideal weather. There was a large attendance of the ladies, and the match (500 yards, with a limit of 47 for 10 shots) . was so arranged that each lady on drawing a partner secured a prize presented by the club, while the three top male scorers got the prizes presented by the ladies. The handicapping was so good that five tied for first place. The surprise of the day was that a young shot in Ralph Barclay beat the "cracks" of the rifle in the shoot off, tyin<r Avith J. Kyle, with 14- out of a possible 15, and then, with one shot each, getting a " bull" to Kyle's 4-. The Ladies' Match created a good deal of excitement. There was a tie for first place with Mrs N. Bisset and Mrs F. Carson with a score of 13 out of a possible 15, Mrs N." Bisset winning in the shoot off. For third place Mrs W.. D. Paterson and Mrs W. D. Carson tied with a-score of 12, the former winning in the shoot off. Scores: — 50ttyds (10 shots with a limit of 47). Ep. Score. Tl.
