The monthly meeting of tho committee of the Otago A. and P. Society was held on the 18th; present—Messrs "W. Gardiner (president, in tho chair), E. F. Duthie, Edgar C. Hazlett, D. Murray, J. Ross, G. H. Mac Ewan, W. O. M'Kcllar, G. R. Ritchie, H. Price, D. Andrew, A. Johnson, J. Macandrew, 11. C. Campbell, and T. T. Ritchie. Mr Hazlett reported in connection with interviews with the Manufacturers’ Association regarding the proposed industrial exhibition. —Adopted; the matter to be left in tho hands of the sub-committee already set up, with power to act —A letter from the Manufacturers’ Association bearing on this subject was read. Sir George Fenwick wrote thanking the committee for its congratulations on his knighthood. Tho secretary of tho Otago Education Board wrote thanking the society for the generous support given to tho school potatogrowing competition, and also for tho promise that tho swede and mangel-growing competitions would be continued. —-Received. The secretary of the Otago Harbour Board wrote forwarding the resolution passed that the Railway Department bo approached with a view to removing the goods yard from its present position to the land lately reclaimed at Peliohet Bay.—lt was unanimously resolved that a sub-committee, consisting of Messrs Hazlett, G. R. Ritchie, and E. F. Duthie, be set up to join other local bodies in going into the position from t.ll points of view.

Tho Secretary of the Treasury wrote forwarding Victory War Loan posters for distribution to various factories and creameries, —Matter attended to.

The secretary of the Hawke's Bay A. and P. Association wrote asking for sketch plan of judging ring and fixtures at Tahuna Park, as tho committee was at present laying out its new ehow ground near Hastings, and members from Hawke's Bay who had_ visited Tahuna Park were much pleased with tho judging arrangements found there.—Attended to. The Minister of Lands wrote acknovvledg-

ing receipt of letter from the society in the matter of tli3 frozen meat trade.— Received

The various sub-committees reported on alterations and additions to tho summer and winter show schedules, and after considera- ( tion it was resolved that they be printed a s revised and submitted to exhibitors at an early date. An enlarged photograph of the late Mr Donald R-'id was exhib : ted, tho likeness being much appreciated bv all present. — Tho Chairman remarked that it would be a valuable and addition to the society's portraits. Tho President intimated that ho had pleasure in donating £lO 10s towards special prizes, the classes to be decided upon by tho General Committee.—Received with acclamation. '
